Meet Ashlee

Meet Ashlee Vaughn, 20, Boys & Girls Club of Springfield - Henderson Unit. Ashlee remained a Club member for 13 years after starting attending when she was five. And what an interesting 13 years it was. In that time, Ashlee says, “the Boys & Girls Club changed my life!”

When Ashlee was eleven years old, she got involved with the Club’s Kid’s Cafe program. She volunteered countless hours and her dedication did not go unnoticed. In the late ‘80s, Ashlee was a televised guest on “Good Morning, America!” where Maria Shriver interviewed her about her service to Club and community.

Andrew Fitzpatrick, the Henderson Unit Director, said Ashlee has been a true example of the potential each of our members possess. During her tenure at the Club, she was a “Youth of the Year” winner and always demonstrated her strong leadership abilities at the Club.

Today, Ashlee is a Senior at Missouri State University in Springfield and is a Hospitality Management major. She works evenings as a Front Desk Supervisor for a local hotel and on the day we met up with Ashlee, she was celebrating being married 260 days! BE HOSPITABLE!
